About
Founded in 2016, tofurocks is an indie development studio specializing in visual novels and other sorts of narrative-based games about the queer experience. Along with original projects, we also provide tutorials and templates for developers who use the Ren’Py Visual Novel Engine.
At this time, tofurocks consists one of one core member, its founder BáiYù.
BáiYù (he/they)
BáiYù is a queer trans masc Chinese-American game developer with over a decade of experience in the hobbyist and indie scene. He once had dreams of being a traditionally published author, but once he learned how hard it is to break into publishing, he thought making games would be “easier” (spoilers: it wasn’t).
They are a generalist developer whose skills lie in Production and just about anything to do with text, from Marketing Copywriting to Narrative Design. Outside of tofurocks, they often do community organizing in the form of game jams (Only One of Any Asset VN Jam, etc.) and bundles (Queer Halloween Stories Bundle). They dream of a day when representation of trans masculine folks in media is common enough that they can be picky with what they read and watch.
